  1. Kia Ora Ruqayat,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.

I think this activity is very wholesome and nice as you get to share one of your favourite places. Your favourite summer place is awesome, the Coromandel Peninsula is such a beautiful place and you shared some very informative facts about it.

Have you visited the Coromandel Peninsula before?

Happy Holidays, Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates

I didn't know that the first European settler in the Coromandel had deserted a whaling ship, that's so interesting! The picture you have included is beautiful - did you know that it's of a place in the Coromandel called Cathedral Cove? I've never visited it but would love to go.

    Good morning Ruqayat,
I work for The Warehouse Group, and I am spending time this morning looking at some of the SLJ blog posts. I was drawn to yours because, like you, I also love the Coromandel. I spent many summers there as a young girl and have very fond memories of fishing with my father.
I was intrigued to learn that Greywacke is the base rock of the Peninsular. Did you know, that Quartz Crystal is found in abundance in the Coromandel, and that Quartz Crystal can indicate that Gold may also to be found in the area. There is a long history of Gold mining in the Coromandel. Perhaps when you visit in the future, you might find some Quartz or even some Gold too.
